Juwita Suwito’s concert in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas saw her soulful take on hit songs, writes Dennis Chua.
The Eagles' powerful song Desperado was given a brilliantly soulful twist by Juwita Suwito in her first concert at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas recently.
The hour-long concert at 6:30 p.m. saw Juwita serenading a full house with 12 songs.
She was backed by 11 musicians from the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra organised by MPO flute and piccolo player Sonia Croucher, and a six-piece band which she tours with.
The orchestral arrangements were made by Australian film score composer Thomas E Rouch while Zach Tay, on the keyboards, was the music director.
Juwita started her show with the fast-paced Leading Change followed by Destiny's Calling, both of which lent a rousing, feel-good moment to the evening.
Juwita also demonstrated her powerful vocals with All This Time and Walking Again, two emotionally-stirring songs which she counted as her favourites.
